IoT Technologies
ETM Pacific is at the forefront in research and development when it comes to latest in IoT Technologies. We are in the process of bringing to market new innovative IoT products using the following technologies.
LTE CAT M1
LTE-M (LTE Cat-M or Cat-M1) is a new mobile data standard for the growing LPWA or Low-Power Wide-Area market. It works best for transferring low to medium data at a long-range. Cat-M1 offers fast enough bandwidth to serve as a replacement for many current 2G and 3G IoT applications. ETM is in the process of developing a new range of products that are low bandwidth and lower power but allow communications over longer distances. These units have long battery life and can be deployed remotely providing a solution where traditional networks power consumption is a limiting factor.
Contact ETM today to discuss how we can help with your IoT projects using this efficient technology.
NB-IoT
NB-IoT (Narrowband IoT or NB1) is another new mobile data standard for the growing Low Power Wireless Application (LPWA) market. NB-IoT features uplink speeds of 66kbps and download speeds of 26kbps in half-duplex mode, meaning data goes in one direction at a time. It also has a latency of 1.6 to 10 seconds. It operates in a very narrow bandwidth – 180 kHz – and can be deployed in the guard band portion of an LTE network, which is in-between channels in an unused portion of the spectrum.
The ETM-770 NB-IoT is a very popular industrial 4G/LTE networking tool that functions across all GSM networks measuring signal strength and coverage.
LORA
Lora is a wireless technology that offers long range, low power, and secure data transmission for M2M and IoT applications. Lora is based on chirp spread spectrum modulation, which has low power characteristics like FSK modulation but can be used for long range applications.
This technology ensures , bi-directional communication between wireless devices. LoRa can be used to connect sensors , gateways , machines , devices ,animals , people etc wirelessly to the cloud. LoRa devices and the open LORA WAN protocol enable smart applications that solve some of the biggest challenge facing our planet : energy management , natural resource reduction , pollution control , infrastructure efficiency , disaster prevention and more.
5G
5G, the fifth generation is the latest technology standard for wireless broadband communications. 5G is the planned successor of the 4G LTE standard and provides higher download speed and lower latency compared to LTE.
5G rollout started in 2019 and is still ramping up. The 5G standard also incorporates LTE Cat M1 and NB-IoT components of 5G giving those technologies very long life in market (at least until 2035) for IoT rollouts.
BLUETOOTH LOW ENERGY
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is a form of wireless communication designed especially for short-range communication. BLE is very similar to Wi-Fi in the sense that it allows devices to communicate with each other. However, BLE is meant for situations where battery life is preferred over high data transfer speeds. Using BLE, our range can be deployed in environments where reliable sensing, monitoring, alarming and logging in conjunction with low power consumption is required.
